Accessibility at Blencowe Hall
We have endeavoured to improve accessibility at Blencowe Hall and are happy to discuss this with our guests and facilitate further changes upon request. We hope that the luxury accommodation provided will be suitable access for all. With this in mind, additional information regarding accessibility is provided below for reference.
There are two ground floor bedrooms in the North Tower at Blencowe. The Garden Bedroom has an ensuite wet room shower without any steps into the shower area and has a double bed and a door with a sandstone ramp leading down into its private courtyard garden with a step free gravelled path to the cobbled entrance yard. The Adam de Blencowe ensuite double bedroom is another ground floor bedroom in the North Tower of Blencowe Hall. It has a six foot bed which may also be configured as two single beds depending on guest preference. Its ensuite has a cast iron bath and a separate shower.
There are three single steps on the ground floor of Blencowe Hall as levels change slightly between different sections of the hall. These are located between the Butler’s Pantry and the South Tower Dining Room, between the Billiards Room and the North Tower and between the Breakfasting Kitchen and the Utility Room/Back Kitchen. Reception rooms on the ground floor of Blencowe Hall include the Oak Panelled Entrance Hall, the Snug (with a large screen TV & armchair/sofa seating), the Billiards Room, the South Tower Dining Room and the Butlers Pantry. The largest reception room at Blencowe Hall is the Solar on the first floor of the North Tower. This room can be accessed via two staircases, one a spiral staircase within the North Tower and the other is a carpeted set of wooden stairs leading from the entrance hall to the Central Range first floor hallway. The spiral staircase has a rope handrail set into the stone walls of the tower and the wooden staircase has fixed handrails and one section of winders. There are four carpeted steps from the Central Range hall down to the North Tower Solar room which have a fixed wooden handrail.
The ground floor doorways at Blencowe Hall are generally wide enough to accommodate wheelchair access. We would be happy to measure any of these for our guests to ensure clear passage if that would be helpful.
Parking at Blencowe Hall is generally in the large gravelled parking area just outside of the walled entrance courtyard but most cars (including large Range Rovers) can fit through the stone arched gateway leading to the cobbled entrance courtyard. There are no steps from this courtyard into the hall.
Guests may refer to the floor plans on our website for more information regarding the layout of Blencowe Hall.
