08/12 Christmas Market at Askham Hall, Askham, Penrith, CA10 2PF
With festive food and drink, hand-picked stalls, live music and free car parking! There will be around 50 hand picked stalls selling wonderful seasonal gifts for Christmas. Enjoy an extended food and drink offering, including mulled wine and beer both in the cafe and courtyard.
There will also be live music with the Penrith Town Band and a ‘Best children’s Christmas jumper’ competition!
And we’ve heard that Father Christmas will be back, welcoming visitors in his very magical Christmas grotto!
New for 2019 – all entry tickets to the fair include a strip of raffle tickets, giving you a chance to win one of 24 fabulous ‘Advent Calendar’ prizes. In conjunction with the Askham Collection and Booths Penrith.
£4 entry including raffle tickets. Proceeds to Hospice at Home and the Penrith Red Squirrel group. Under 16s free.. Well-behaved dogs on leads permitted

Orton Farmers’ Market happens on the second Saturday of every month and includes over 25 local farmers, growers, producers and artisan craftsmen offer a tremendous variety of high quality and speciality local produce and crafts Orton is a tranquil, attractive (and award winning) village that nestles in the heart of Eden. The village is transformed on market day by the sights, sounds and smells of a thriving country market. With live music at most markets, special events such as cookery demonstrations, an award-winning chocolate factory on the doorstep, and parking for the disabled, a trip to the award-winning Orton Farmers’ Market is a great day out for the whole family. 14/12 Christmas Banquet with Victorian Carol Singers, Appleby Castle, Appleby in Westmorland,Cumbria, CA16 6XH
Guests can arrive from 6.30pm for canapés and a free cocktail. At 7.30pm everyone is seated in the Great Hall for the banquet. The 5 course banquet is then served. A pianist will play Christmas Carols to start and then the Victorian Carol Singers will entertain throughout the banquet. After tea or coffee to conclude the banquet a band / disco will play downstairs in the Old Great Hall. Evening concludes at 1.30am

Don’t just take our word for it… Santa Specials at South Tynedale Railway really are special, but don’t just take our word for it! A visitor from Carlisle said, “It’s become a family tradition now and we hope to come for many years to come.” And SB from Newcastle said, “Had such a lovely day out, couldn’t have faulted it one bit.” So, what happens at a Santa Special? Well, you’ll be greeted by our lovely platform Elves who will direct you to our ticket office on platform 1 to collect your tickets and then help you to board your train. You’ll be able to join in with some carol singing on your journey* and we will give you a spotter sheet with lots of things to look for as you travel through the wintry North Pennines behind one of our heritage steam locos. When you return to Alston, our Chief Elf will be there to lead you to Santa’s Grotto and while you wait your turn to see the famous man in red there will be crafts to keep you busy and seasonal refreshments to warm you up and it’s all included in your ticket price!

28/12-29/12 Aladdin Live Pantomime, The Rheged Centre, Redhills, Penrith, CA11 0DQ
Returning for their 3rd year- Gary Starr Pantomimes in association with Rheged Theatre return this Christmas with their biggest Pantomime to date – a brand new Pantomime Production of the classic Story Aladdin.
Join Aladdin on his quest to win the heart of Princess Jasmine, whilst trying to outwit the villainous Abanazar. With a host of colourful characters, plenty of song, dance and comedy this show is suitable for children and grownups of all ages.
1 hr duration – with a meet and greet after the show.

The Rheged Centre is an award winning visitor attraction just outside Penrith on the A66.
Throughout May there are a number of events and activities taking place including;
