02/12 Christmas Market at Askham Hall, Askham, Penrith, CA10 2PF
Our annual Christmas Market is back! With more festive food and drink, more hand-picked stalls, live music and free car parking! This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever. There will be around 50 hand-picked stalls selling wonderful seasonal gifts for Christmas (until 4pm). Enjoy an extended food and drink offering, including mulled wine and beer in the cafe and courtyard. Live music with the Penrith Town Band.
We’ve also heard that Father Christmas will be back, welcoming visitors in his very magical Christmas grotto.
£3 entry per adult. Under 16s free. Proceeds to ‘Hospice at Home’. Free parking. Well behaved dogs on leads permitted

1/12 Christmas Lights switch on in Penrith, Cumbria CA11
Penrith Town Centre will come alive on 1st December when we switch on our beautiful Christmas Lights. Local choirs will help to get you in the festive mood. Town Centre businesses will be full of ideas to make your Christmas shopping an enjoyable and easy. The lights will be switched on at 4pm, so be sure to be in the town centre to enjoy this Festive start to Christmas

Orton Farmers’ Market happens on the second Saturday of every month and includes over 25 local farmers, growers, producers and artisan craftsmen offer a tremendous variety of high quality and speciality local produce and crafts Orton is a tranquil, attractive (and award winning) village that nestles in the heart of Eden. The village is transformed on market day by the sights, sounds and smells of a thriving country market. With live music at most markets, special events such as cookery demonstrations, an award-winning chocolate factory on the doorstep, and parking for the disabled, a trip to the award-winning Orton Farmers’ Market is a great day out for the whole family. Ho, Ho, Ho, join us for our fabulous Santa Specials. After a train ride through the wintry South Tyne valley, Santa’s chief elf will be waiting for you and will take you to see the man himself! Your ticket includes return train fare, refreshments and a visit to Santa which includes a present for every child. Dogs are welcome and Santa will have a special present for them too!

You will receive an email confirmation at the time of booking and a booking reference number. if the email confirmation doesn’t come through please check your spam/junk mail folder as confirmations sometimes end up there. Come to the ticket office on platform 1 where your tickets will be waiting for you.

A Visit to Father Christmas, Lowther Castle and Gardens, Lowther Penrith, CA11 2HH
St Nicholas, Santa Claus, Father Christmas or just Santa – the personification of Christmas and its celebrations dates back to at least the 12th century. This year, at Lowther, we bring you Father Christmas in stately old-fashioned style. Bring your young to the Lowther Stables and you will find him in his carriage, ready to greet his fans and share some bright Christmas cheer.

‘The Snow Queen’ – Puppet Show, Upfront Gallery and Puppet Theatre, Unthank Farm, Skelton, Penrith, CA11 9TG
A magical winter fairy tale brought to life in a stunning original production.

Based on the fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. A stunning and original production, using a mixture of puppet types and special scenic effects which includes projected moving images and a revolving stage. Musical score based on Russian folk music.
This adventure takes us on the river, to a magic garden with talking flowers, to a robbers’ castle and onwards through many places to the palace of the Snow Queen.

28/12-29/12 Cinderella Pantomime, The Rheged Centre, Redhills, Penrith, CA11 0DQ
After the success of last year’s Pantomime Beauty and the Beast, Gary Starr Pantomimes return to the Rheged Theatre this December, with a magical adaptation of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella. Badly treated by her evil ugly sisters, Kim and Aggie, Cinderella dreams of meeting her true love. After a chance meeting with the Prince, she knows she must see him again and hopes that a chance to attend the Royal Ball will be the perfect opportunity. But her two ugly sisters have different plans for her. Tearing her dress and destroying her ticket, it seems all hope is lost, that is until her fairy godmother appears to save the day. Will she make it to the Ball in time? Will she get to be with the handsome Prince Charming? Only time will tell….
Fun awaits you this Christmas, for the most magical of all Pantomimes, Cinderella.
