1-28 March, Some Surprising Facts about Pancakes – A Garden Trail, Lowther Castle and Gardens, Lowther, Penrith, CA10 2HH
Have you heard of Otzi the Iceman? Do you know what the word pancake looks like in Malaysian? Can you imagine how many eggs are used on Pancake Day in the UK? These surprising facts – along with a heap of others – form our pre-Easter trail round the garden.
As you go, you will learn things you never imagined you would about pancakes and pick up some clues to break a code. A treat will be given to all young pancake detectives

09 March Orton Farmers’ Market, Orton, near Penrith, Cumbria, CA10 3RU

Opening times: 9am-2pm

Orton Farmers’ Market happens on the second Saturday of every month and can include up to 35 different stallholders, all of them coming from within a 50 mile radius of Orton and many of them from the immediate community, including local farmers. Orton, a tranquil, attractive (and award winning) village that nestles in the heart of Eden. The village is transformed on market day by the sights, sounds and smells of a thriving country market. With live music at most markets, special events such as cookery demonstrations, an award-winning chocolate factory on the doorstep, and parking for the disabled, a trip to the award-winning Orton Farmers’ Market is a great day out for the whole family.

15-17 March Cumbria Life Home and Garden Show 2018, Rheged, Penrith CA11 0DQ

The Cumbria Life Home & Garden Show has quickly established itself as the finest Northern Home and Garden Show of the year. The weekend includes talks and demonstrations from leading regional experts, included in your show ticket. Buy your fast track tickets online – skip the main ticket queue – simply show your e-ticket at the main desk when you arrive for your show wristband. For those who want to get more in-depth knowledge or hands on experience, a selection of the North’s best makers and designers are running a series of 15 different masterclasses over the weekend, which are ticketed separately. 16 and 17 March, The World’s Original Marmalade Awards and Festival, Dalemain Mansion & Gardens, Dalemain, Penrth CA11 0HB

The World’s Original Marmalade Festival will be returning on Saturday 16th March 2019, so put the date in your diaries and get ready to go orange! Join us at Dalemain for a weekend of marmalade celebrations with market stalls in the historic courtyard, cookery demonstrations, talks, entertainment and shows that will inspire you, your family and friends to take the nation’s marmalade to your heart. The Dalemain Festival is supported by Penrith Chamber of Trade and Commerce, who will be providing Classic Coaches to take visitors between Penrith and Dalemain, as well as organising lots of exciting orange windows and special offers in town. We are delighted to be welcoming the festival back to its home, Dalemain Mansion, in March.

16 and 17 March, Marmalade Madness Ullswater ‘Steamers’, The Pier House, Glenridding, Penrith,

To celebrate the famous Marmalade Festival we are offering you the chance to cruise for free on our 9:30am sailing from Glenridding if you bring a jar of marmalade! You can also enjoy some complimentary toast too! Dalemain Historic Mansion and Gardens are also offering these passengers discounted entry to the festival over the weekend. All jars of marmalade we receive will be donated to the Salvation Army.

The Rheged Centre is an award winning visitor attraction just outside Penrith on the A66.
Throughout March there are a number of events and activities taking place including;
