Cruik Barn at Hause Hall

A gorgeous slate and stone self-contained cottage for four additional Hause Hall guests, 14 of you can stay at one time.

  • Sleeps: 4

Cruik Barn (add on accommodation)

Cruik Barn is only available with Hause Hall bookings, so your privacy is guaranteed.

Hause Hall in miniature, Cruik Barn is your stunning solution for extra guests. There’s a log hearth and range for toasting your toes and a galleried lounge from which to watch the world go by. Polished beams and limewashed walls give the sunlit living space a bright and airy feel, ideal for lazing with the papers. The fully equipped oak and granite kitchen gives you great flexibility, whether it’s different dining times for larks and owls or extra ovens for rustling up the shared feast of a lifetime.

Majestic views

Cruik Barn has a private sunny terrace with teak table and chairs. It’s surrounded by pretty planted gardens overlooking the Lakeland hills, so your guests can potter and graze at their own pace, happy as the local Herdwick sheep. And for joint festivities, it’s linked to Hause Hall by a sweeping terrace with outstanding views of the hills.

Your private space, but close to the party

Four of your group can stay here in luxury. The accommodation is great for privacy but only moments from the hall. Choose from the glorious carved double in Beda suite or the vaulted beams in Bordale. Feather duvets and smooth Egyptian cotton sheets cosset you as you drift off to the soothing hoot of barn owls.

If you can bear to leave...

Stroll downhill to ivy-clad Howtown Hotel for lunch or a drink in the snug. Call in at their walkers’ tearoom for fresh-baked scones – muddy boots and dogs welcome. Take the Ullswater Steamer from Howtown Pier to Aira Force or potter round the lakeside villages. Burn off any party excesses, biking, hiking, riding, windsurfing or kayaking  – the outdoors is your oyster here. Go wild on the fells with your hounds at your heels or return to civilization with a trip to Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake.
