We had a wonderful short break at Gill Beck Barn, 3 couples and 3 dogs, for 4 nights. Extremely well appointed and very comfortable throughout, plus a very large and secure garden for the dogs. Clean, warm, and great attention to detail - including the lovely hamper! We would definitely recommend and hope to stay here again.

We had an amazing stay at Gill Beck Barn. For the second year in a row, we booked a long weekend just before Christmas and spent a few days eating, drinking, walking, and jigsaw-ing in a beautiful location. The house is so well set-up for that sort of thing, and the added bonuses of the christmas tree, the log burner and the aga make it a really special place to be. The Rowleys are also incredibly responsive and provide all the info you need to have a wonderful break. Thank you again!

Recent trip with 6 adults (and 2 dogs) for long weekend. Information provided prior to trip was great, info in property plentiful and barn was fantastic. Well equipped and spacious whilst still being homely. The AGA made sure the room was toasty after being out. All in all a great property and highly recommended.

What a gem of a place, away from all the hustle and bustle and yet only a mere drive to some really great areas. House was perfect for a large family of adults, kids and dog, all rooms were of a high standard with the added bonus all of all rooms being en-suite, finished to a very high standard. Welcome hamper was really well thought out and again of a high standard. Great for taking the dog as there is a enclosed garden that allows the dog to run about, however if you have a small dog they could get through the gate, therefore be careful. Overall one of the best houses and locations that I have booked for a long time.

This is a superb property for a relaxing week away. It’s in a beautiful setting, the facilities are first class and the organisation around making our stay stress free was so appreciated. The welcome hamper topped it off. Thank you.

Simply Outstanding! Our American friend was in the UK for the Jubilee and Ascot and to stay in a 'Barn' was on her wish list. Hence our visit to Cumbria. Gill Beck Barn was perfect for many reasons. An extremely clean and very well equipped kitchen (with sensible pans, cutlery, crockery, kitchen towels and cleaning products) and a wonderful welcoming hamper was a delight with artisan bread and homemade raspberry jam.The large sitting / dining area is perfect for relaxing and entertaining and the dining table was already set ready for our arrival with white napkins. A lovely touch! The Aga was a joy to use. All the facilities in the barn were well thought out and very practical. The towels were fluffy and bathroom toiletries very pleasant. Beds and bedding were all comfortable and a good nights sleep was enjoyed by us all. Decor is simple, uncluttered and tasteful. A variety of books gave plenty of choice for all readers and the information folders were very useful. Only a scant collection of DVDs but this is not a complaint as there is much to do in this beautiful area. Our corgis had plenty of running space outdoors in the enclosed field and a dog waste bins were provided. Easy outdoor seating is provided with a large enough table to accommodate plenty of food/people. Parking is easy and safe, the road is not busy and the pretty garden a joy. The Village Bakery was wonderful and a visit is a must. Our stay at this barn was indeed a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning. All communication from Christine was friendly, very helpful and accommodating to all our personal needs. Highly recommended indeed. Do not hesitate to stay here!

Beautiful property and the hosts have thought of everything! We were greeted with a welcome basket that was overflowing with delicious treats. The house was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed. Christine was very responsive and even accommodated a late check out on our last day. Our group had a great time!

Excellent property, very clean and extremely comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need and more, and the Aga was fabulous. It kept the kitchen/lounge warm, which was great to come back to when you've been out in the cold all day. Would definitely recommend this property.

I just wanted to drop you a note to say what a fantastic cottage Gill Beck Barn was. We had a really lovely time, arriving in warm sunshine and departing in snow! Nevertheless everything was perfect, and we look forward to bringing friends and enjoying a different cottage or hall with you sometime soon!

We had a great long weekend with three couples and three infants staying at Gill Beck Barn. The house was beautifully appointed, very well-equipped and the open plan kitchen/living space was perfect for socialising all together. The bedrooms and en-suites were really lovely too. Christine was informative, easy to deal with and really helpful in answering my queries ahead of our stay. Thanks for a great weekend!

FYI we had a lovely week at Gill Beck Farm.  The accommodation delivered on every aspect : large spacious rooms with comfortable beds and fantastic showers.  The kitchen was extremely well appointed and experimenting with cooking on the Aga was fun.  The garden surpassed our expectations with beautiful views over wonderful landscapes and enclosed with loads of space for the dogs. My only comment re garden was the table and chairs are tired (chairs are especially wobbly and feel like they may collapse) and a garden umbrella for some shade would have been nice. The hot tub we ordered was set up and ready to use when we arrived and Mark (the supplier)  was super helpful on ringing with instructions etc so I can highly recommend them as a linked preferred supplier to Rowley.  We booked via Rural Retreats but frankly I found you via Google searches. We have though already recommended you to loads of our friends.  The treats and basket of items you left for our arrival were lovely and actually if we had known they were there we would have ordered less off the Tesco delivery J  The location was perfect to relax in peace and quiet and watching the farmers cut the fields and the sheep antagonise the dogs J but within striking distance to The Lakes and Pennines etc. to see lots of the countryside and landmarks.  We lucked out with perfect week on the weather too.  All in all it was a 10 out of 10 stay for us and more then lived up to our expectations and would definitely book with you again.

This has been our 7th stay at one of the cottages owned by the Rowley Estates. We are never disappointed and this time was no exception. We stayed at Gill Beck Barn this time and it was fabulous. So relaxing, lots of space to cook and socialise together in the large open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge. We stayed during the midst of storm Ciara and were really snug at the cottage. The outdoor garden area was perfect for our dogs and for us to do some of our own exercise when we couldn’t go too far on the Sunday c/o the weather. The small village of Melmerby is lovely and we did a great 7.5 mile walk direct from the cottage. The whole Rowley team are so helpful and make our stay so relaxing. The hamper basket, wine and food in the fridge on arrival, is always so welcome and gratefully received. Thanks again!

The property was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The decor and furnishings are really comfortable and all the equipment is of good quality. Great comfortable beds and bed linen ensured a good nights sleep. The Barn is in a rural location about 1/2 a mile from the village of Melmerby where there is a pub, small shop and a bakery. There is some great walking close by on the Pennines and it's only about a 30 minute drive to the Lake District hills. On arrival we found that the owners had left a brilliant welcome hamper with lots of soil treats and essential such as milk and tea bags plus a lovely loaf of bread. Thank you very much. We have never stayed anywhere and had such a great hamper! We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would recommend it highly.
