We stayed at Birch Retreat for our Christmas as a family of three and we had the best Christmas ever. Birch Retreat exceeded all our expectations. It was lovely and cosy. It was always warm with central heating and a lovely log fire. Soooo many logs for the fires you will never run out. Gorgeous shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser to use. Lots of lovely towels to keep us going. Really comfortable beds. Everything you need in the kitchen. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the homemade jam was lovely. The area is lovely and quiet. There are 2 other cabins in view. Birch Retreat is on the end next to woodland and a river which was perfect for us as it gave us our own little private walk which our daughter loved each day. There is a lovely pub a quick walk down the road. We were sorry to leave, we had such a lovely peaceful time. Christine was a great attentive host. We hope to return and stay again! Thank you x

My husband and I stayed at the Birch Retreat a week ago and it was a fantastic stay. Lovely and cozy, with the fire roaring as it was minus temperatures outside. The shephards hut is located in the middle of a beautiful forest, which added to the cozy asthetic. Perfectly well equipt with everything we needed. Will definitely be coming back to stay again!

We’ve stayed at several of the properties over the years and wanted to try the clamping cabins. We were not disappointed! The use of space is well thought out and no comprise on the beds, kitchen and welcome goodies. The Birch Retreat is far superior than other clamping offerings countrywide.

Had a lovely time at the Birch Retreat! It’s really well equipped and you are surrounded with small private woods, which is ideal if you have a dog! Definitely would recommend it!

We had a brilliant weekend stay in Birch Retreat. The cabin was cosy, spotlessly clean and better equipped than anywhere we have ever stayed and had everything you could need. There was a lovley welcome basket too.
We spent our evenings around the fire pit listening to the owls and watching the bats swooping around. We even spotted a hare.
Would highly recommend.

So much more than we were expecting.
The woodland drive, which lets you leave the outside world behind to stepping onto the decking and being greeted by views of nothing but the natural landscape.
Opening the door and entering you feel relaxed.
Everything you need is there, the welcome pack was lovely, probably the best coffee I’ve had and the raspberry jam IS the best I’ve ever had.
The beds are really comfortable, and we had such lovely nights sleep every night.
We will definitely be returning again.

Very comfortable stay. Very well equipped with lots of little extras in the welcome pack, which were greatly appreciated. Melmerby is a quiet little village and Birch Retreat is hidden away in a small forest away from the road. We’ve been glamping elsewhere before, but this was by far the most comfortable. Staying as a family of 4 we really benefitted from the extra space. It was warm enough during our stay that we never lit the small log burning stove, but did cook on the BBQ outside and also used the firepit to toast marshmallows. Highly recommend.

We recently had such a lovely stay in the birch retreat with our two young kids, it is a wonderful peaceful spot and the cabins are very well equipped. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Gem of a place, clean and well equipped with everything you need. Very comfortable, the welcome hamper was a lovely treat .Would highly recommend if peace and quiet is what you want.
