Christine is a friendly host and she was very responsive. Google maps led us astray, but she picked up the phone immediately and steered us right. Place was spotless. Sheep walk right up outside the cabin. Very nice retreat away from the city. Would recommend with the right company.

We have just left the property and grounds, we had an absolutely wonderful stay – thank for your time assisting us with entry and hospitality. The hut is so lovely and the personal touches of local produce left for us was very much appreciated, we hope to visit again one day.

We had a truly magical stay as a family and made some beautiful memories here with our two children. The hut was warm, charming, and full of thoughtful details that made us feel instantly at home. The grounds were peaceful and perfect for slowing down and enjoying time together. Christine was so welcoming and kind, helping us with entry and making us feel genuinely cared for. The lovely local produce left for us was such a thoughtful touch and meant a lot to our family. This stay will stay with us for a long time, and we hope to return one day. Thank you for sharing such a special place with us.

My friend and I stayed recently in Cedar retreat , such a rare find to have a 2 bedroomed hut that you can stay with a friend. Cedar was the same high standard and attention to detail in Melmerby Hall like the one I stayed in at Blencowe Hall. Well equipped kitchen with a standard sized oven and fridge , again a rare find in Shepherds huts. I love the beautifully crafted woodwork of the furniture that has been made for this accommodation. Warm and toasty of an evening with the woodburner. Bedrooms so cosy with beautiful linen. Thought the heated boot room was a wonderful idea ! Surrounding Melmerby was peaceful with lovely walks from the door. Can’t wait to return . Thank you again Christine

Lovely shepherds huts, really relaxing holiday, very peaceful and quiet.

We spent 10 nights in the Shepherds Cabin over Xmas. Having travelled from Malaysia and not used to the cold, we were delighted to find the cabin was cosy and warm. The fit out was at a high standard, in very good condition and very clean. The local produce Christine and her team provided was welcome and tasty! The only negative for us was the lack of space in the bedrooms, not an issue if you have small overnight bags but we had 2 large suitcases for a 2 week trip. But we managed and loved the peace and tranquility of the forest. Would certainly visit again in future.

Easily exceeded my expectations! Arrived through beautiful woods and the picturesque village to welcome great vistas and a really well furnished and cosy part of paradise. Perfect!

Wonderful place for a retreat in nature! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the shepherd’s huts to anyone looking for a break in the area.

Great stay in an idyllic part of the Lake District. Nearby Melmerby has a good cafe and pub offering, and we enjoyed a very restful few days here.
