All 15 of our American family (age 15 to 85) thought Blencowe wonderful. Modern where needed(baths/kitchen/tv room) and a time capsule else where.
We did shooting, a hot tub, a great catered/ served dinner, delivered meals, a piper, and trips to nearby friendly pubs!
My only complaint was getting lost trying to find my great bedroom after wine. Large doesn’t do Blencowe justice.
The owners left treats and wine in the fridges. Nearby(but not too near)large modern grocery stores supply everything else we needed. The castle has no neighbors and is built on a Roman site.
Scotland is a short drive and the wall is near. Go, you will love it.

We booked Blencowe for a family and friends celebration of our 40th Wedding Anniversary, we had stayed there 17 years ago and just knew it was the place we needed to celebrate. From our first contact with Christine and the team to see if it was possible to the last contact everything was so easy and welcoming.
The hall is one to behold and everyone as they arrived had their mouths open in awe.
The hall is very well supplied with everything you could ever want.
The kitchen has plenty of everything, the bedrooms were all so comfortable and sitting outside looking out onto the gardens everyday left us with memories we will never forget.
Thank you Christine and team for making us feel so welcome and able to play Lord and Lady of the manor for a few days.

This is one of those places you’re reluctant to leave a review as you want to keep it a secret. However, I feel that the owners deserve to be praised and as an AirBnb superhost I know how important positive reviews can be. We had an unforgettable time here. The property is outstanding – full of character and charm. Our partly of 19 all had ensuite facilities which is very difficult to find in a period property. All was clean and the kitchen very well supplied with ample, quality equipment. Grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We will be returning as a family group some time in the not too distant future.

Excellent venue for a large group of people, superb facilities and always lovely and clean when we arrive. We have used Blencowe Hall 5 times for birthday and reunion celebrations and it never disappoints, its a joy to be in such a wonderfully restored building. Everyone who we invite falls in love with the Hall and marvels in its history. Thanks to Christine, Charles and their super housekeeping team, highly recommend a stay here.

I stayed at Blencowe Hall for a wedding and honestly, it’s one of the most stunning places I’ve ever visited. The mix of history and comfort is unreal the famous crack in the stonework and the views make it feel like you’re living inside a storybook.The rooms were spotless and full of character, and even the living‑room couches were ridiculously comfy.
It’s just a short drive from Penrith and Pooley Bridge, so you’re right on the edge of the Lake District with loads to explore.

We stayed for four nights and it was truly incredible. Even with a big group, the place is so spacious that it never once felt like we were on top of each other. The bathrooms were also amazing modern, clean, and surprisingly luxurious for such a historic building. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s both historic and homely, Blencowe Hall is absolutely worth it for family gatherings, special occasions, or a memorable getaway.

I and around 20 colleagues had the most wonderful weekend stay at Blencowe Hall at the beginning of June. The accommodation is second to none and every little detail has been thought of to ensure a stay in this most amazing Hall is perfect.

The bedrooms, social spaces and kitchen facilities were first class with the latter allowing cooking for 20+ people to be seamless! A special dinner in the stunning dining room on our final evening was the icing on the cake!

We were in the Lake District to do the Macmillan Mighty Hike around Ullswater and to have this level of luxury to come back to afterwards was just fabulous!

What a stunning venue and an even better organisation team behind it. It’s hard to please a group of 24 friends but this place was TREMENDOUS!! Exactly or in fact BETTER than described on website. Spotless clean, so comfortable and fab social spaces and gardens. This is the BEST kept secret… I almost don’t want to share the review so it doesn’t get overbooked before we can rebook for next year!!! Thank you so much to Christine and the Rowley Estates for such a memorable stress free holiday in the fabulous dog friendly Blencowe Hall. We will see u again in Dec 26…. And again next spring!! For anyone looking for a stunning location to share precious time with family and friends… don’t hesitate just book Blencowe (and Lynn Hilditch catering!)

What a beautiful place to stay, amazing inside and out. It has everything you’d need and more for a luxury stay in the country, but only 10mins from the motorway 🙂

We stayed here for the McMillian Mighty Walk.
From the minute we walked in we were blown away with the accommodation. The attention to detail and everything was so well considered.
The kitchen had more of everything, lots of pots and pans, cutlery and glasses.
It was a lovely kitchen to cook in and hangout in.
The dining room and lounge had lots of chairs for everyone.
The beds were so comfortable
Great showers and bath.
The grounds were beautiful.
I would highly recommend.
