We had such an amazing, peaceful and much-needed stay. Hawthorne Retreat was exactly the getaway we needed! Christine was so lovely and always quick to respond to any questions we had.

Somehow even better than the pictures! We have stayed in a lot of shepherds hut and I think this is the best one… amazing location in a very private area where you feel in the middle of the woods!
Very clean.
The shepherds hut has 3 different outside areas – outside the hut table and chairs, a fire pit area and a separate area close to a stream you can hear and relax.
Fantastic for anytime of year.
The hut had everything you need, I would definitely return if in the area again.

Absolutely amazing, only wished we had booked longer. Will 100% be coming back – really peaceful and quiet but only a short drive from any villages/shops etc. Came with all the amenities you could need, was really happy thank you!

We absolutely loved staying here for the four nights we booked and wished we’d stayed longer. The place was spick and span. Absolutely stunning surrounding scenery, with every detail thought of to accommadate us during our holiday. We will definitely be back.

A hundred percent worth every penny!!!

We had a wonderful and peaceful 4 night escape here. We were treated with some homemade plum jam, bread, muesli and other lovely supplies that meant breakfast was sorted for our entire stay. Eve try thing in the hut was so thought-out and there was plenty of space for the two of us. Outdoor area was amazing and offered 3 more spaces to unwind listening yo the sound of the river. We can’t wait to visit again!

This place was absolutely wonderful. The hut was cosy and nothing short of what it was described as, with a peaceful surrounding next to a lovely river. The outdoor space was perfect. Upon arrival we had a tiny issue with the door to the hut, but Christine was so helpful and sent someone out in 5 minutes, who fixed the problem straight away. Such a lovely time and friendly host, would 100% recommend and revisit in the future.

We had a fantastic 5 night stay at this wonderful shepherd’s hut (Hawthorn Retreat) and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time here. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that a great deal of thought and care has gone into creating such a welcoming and comfortable retreat.

The hut is beautifully presented, exceptionally clean, and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. We particularly appreciated all the thoughtful welcome touches, which made us feel at home straight away and added a real personal touch to our visit.

The peaceful setting provided the perfect base for exploring the stunning Lake District, and it was always a pleasure to return after a day out to such a cosy and well-appointed accommodation.

We genuinely couldn’t have asked for more and have been extremely impressed with both the quality of the facilities and the attention to detail throughout. We will certainly be looking to return in the future and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this shepherd’s hut to anyone looking for a peaceful, high-quality getaway in the Lake District.

The place was perfect for a few nights stay in a peaceful location. To top it off the food and drink gifted were greatly appreciated. The multiple seating areas and the fire pit were a nice touch to sit and relax (especially with the sound of the river). We got lucky with the weather so sitting outside wasn’t a problem for us however seating inside is slightly limited, but the space used in the cabin is well thought.

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful shepherd’s hut. Set beside the most peaceful river and surrounded by stunning trees and open fields, it was the perfect place to switch off and unwind. The tranquility was incredible – not a sound to be heard, just nature all around us.
The accommodation had everything we needed and more, making our stay comfortable and relaxing from start to finish. It was exactly what we needed to recharge and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for peace, relaxation, and a beautiful countryside setting. We can’t wait to come back again!
