Our stay at Blencowe was incredible! What a gorgeous property. Everything was perfect and made celebrating my 50th birthday truly wonderful and unforgettable. Christine and the team were super helpful in answering questions and making sure we felt welcome and at home during our entire stay.

I can’t describe how amazing this place is! I was very lucky to have won a stay here as part of the Bud Light competition! Then we asked Christine if we could return for Christmas! It was such an amazing experience to get married here and was the last time we were all together with my wonderful mum!! Christine and her team are so attentive and accommodating! Anything you need for 24 people staying in a Castle in one of the most beautiful places in the world!! Just book it!! It’s amazing and has created memories I will never forget!!

WHAT an experience and WHAT a place. I was King of my own CaRstle for 3 nights and it was absolutely BRILLIANT.
We had a Piper pipe us in for dinner and a pizza wagon (all provided by the EXCELLENT Lynn Hilditch – recommended by Christine, of course).
From the word go Christine has been exceptional in helping me in every way. Allowing me to pre view and look around to answering any questions I had.
24 of us enjoyed the gorgeous surroundings and the beautiful Northern lights. I wouldn’t hesitate to book for a large gathering.

We recently spent a fabulous weekend at Blencowe Hall with family and friends celebrating a Birthday. This is an outstanding venue that is steeped in a fascinating history which has been carefully and sensitively restored.

The owners and staff teams clearly work very hard to keep Blencowe Hall well maintained. It is very comfortable, clean, tidy and well stocked with everything that you are likely to need for your stay.

We also found the owners to be very approachable and helpful, when planning our stay and during our stay.

There are plenty of shops and supermarkets close by in Penrith at which to purchase food and places to visit such as Lake Derwent, Lake Coniston and the town of Keswick.

During our stay we took advantage of using a local caterer to provide us with an evening 3 course meal in the impressive dinning room at Blencowe Hall which was superb. Additionally, we also spent a day at Blencowe Hall participating in a clay pigeon shoot. This was something neither we or our guests have previously experienced but was thoroughly enjoyable to all and very informative.

The owners have contact details for a host of activity providers and caterers. Should you wish to arrange something during your stay.

We cannot recommend highly enough a stay at Blencowe Hall to anyone wanting to plan a special family occasion such as birthdays, weddings, or simply a get together with friends. We genuinely feel that you will not regret a stay in such a unique building and it’s surroundings.

We booked Blencowe Hall to celebrate my 50th bday with family, 19 of us in total. The most beautiful house, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen- we had the most fabulous stay and didn’t want to leave.

We had a family gathering for my husbands 70th, there were 25 adults and 10 children we used Blencowe Hall and Cazenovia Hall looking at pictures online does not give it justice, It was AMAZING.
Everything was clean from the bedroom to the kitchen which was very well stocked with everything you needed.

We were able to have a family dinner on the Saturday and had the use of the Byre.

we expected it to be cold so took warm clothes but they were not needed it was so cosy everywhere.

Christine (Host) was very helpful and answered all our question.

What a fantastic place. The location is great, the property is amazing, and as a group we could not have asked for more. Every detail has been considered, from the complimentary toiletries, to the partners they work with (clay pigeon shooting). Cannot fault it and wish we could return sooner!

We visited Blencowe Hall for a week in August 2024. Our group included 8 adults and seven children with ages ranging from 5 to 17. We also had three dogs.

The booking process was simple and responsive and the welcoming packages in the kitchen and the Lakeland toiletries in the bathrooms were very much appreciated.

The size of the Hall and its grounds meant that four family groups were able to enjoy both their own space and being able to eat and socialise together in comfort. The younger children loved the historical feel of the buildings and the fact that they could race and chase each other in a sizable garden!

The cooking and dining facilities were outstanding for a large family group. If wanted, children could eat and have fun on a separate table in both the kitchen and the main dining rooms and there were also two outside seating locations for sunny days and evenings.

Although not in the heart of the Lake District, Blencowe Hall is only a short drive from Ullswater and there are many child and adult friendly acctivities that are easily accessible.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary at Blencowe at the end of August 2024, with our 5 married children and 15 grandchildren, a total of 27! It was absolutely fabulous. Every aspect of it worked wonderfully well, the outside spaces, the dining room, kitchen, bedrooms and numerous common areas for quiet chats and noisier competitive card games. Christine was incredibly helpful, warm and professional in all her dealings, and quick in responses. We woke on the Sunday to find the Aga cold. Within an hour there was an engineer fixing it – yes, on a Sunday morning! Everything is very well set up, with a high level of cleanliness. We also used Lynn Hilditch for catering, Pizza Van on Friday night, and for the formal dinner on Saturday – she was also excellent. Her Tuscan Platter certainly exceeded any we had enjoyed during our very regular trips to Tuscany over the last 30 years, and her Beef Wellington impressed even the experienced family connoisseurs!
We unhesitatingly recommend Blencowe Hall, it is spectacular, and thank everyone for such a happy and memorable weekend. Nigel
