Perfect place for our family celebration! Fabulous house and the owners were so lovely to deal with at booking and throughout. Will be booking again in the future.

We were an extended family of 17 enjoying a long weekend for my belated 50th birthday, ageing from 16 – 78. We all loved Melmerby Hall, there is nothing that hasn’t been thought of. Every kitchen drawer, cupboard etc is crammed with everything you will ever need. There are books and games and a television for entertainment, the boys particularly enjoyed the billiards room.  If you need a quiet moment there are several options of rooms to sit and read. The rooms are furnished beautifully and well equipped, the bed linen was really luxurious. The grounds are beautiful as is the village, The Shepherds Inn was magnificent and service, food and even the locals were excellent, very welcoming and friendly!

Stayed there for the weekend with friends and my little dog. Apart for the weather everything was perfect and the welcoming hamper even included dog treats. I would recommend it 100% and The communication with Christine was great. We can’t wait to stay there again!

An exceptionally warm, comfy, clean and very well equipped cottage. A real home from home. The location is great for exploring Carlisle and Hadrians wall, the Pennines and the eastern Lake District. There are good pubs nearby for food and Penrith is just 20 minutes away for provisions. Some good local walking too near the River Eden and the Long Meg stone circle. Can highly recommend the Rowley Estate properties and especially Elk Cottage.

Stayed with Rowley Estates before and always enjoyed it, Riverain Coach house was exceptional, lovely and clean in a lovely area. Gorgeous log fire with plenty of logs for the fire. Bedrooms and bathrooms really nice as was the kitchen and lounge. The welcome hamper was really well stocked. TV had amazon prime video which was great. Christine and Jilly are lovely and very helpful. Would recommend staying here and with Rowley Estates

First class accommodation

We stayed as a large group of 16 in Todd hills hall at the beginning of February 2022. The house and grounds are absolutely beautiful, there are 2 additional properties on the grounds which you can also rent out. We rented Todd hills hall and Vale Croft, a 1 bed cottage style property which had everything needed. The main house has 6 double rooms all with en-suites, wardrobes, hairdryers, bath products, towels, additional bed blankets and lovely heavy black out curtains. The kitchen is fully stocked with every single item you need for cooking and eating we were extremely impressed with the amount of pans, cutlery, glasses, utensils, bowls, cooking’s trays. Etc. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome basket in the kitchen with local produce, this was such a wonderful touch and we are definitely a group who supports small local businesses. Communication with Christine Rowley from the initial enquiry until after we had checked out was superb, never felt more than an email or call if we needed to speak to her. A small group of us have already started planning our next visit to Cumbria to stay in another Rowley property and we cannot wait! Highly highly recommended!
