We had a very pleasant five night stay at Kirkbride Hall over the festive period. The property has everything you would need for an enjoyable stay and had been tastefully decorated for Christmas with a tree and garlands. The house was very clean upon arrival and the kitchen and bathrooms had all of the amenities that were required and were to a very high standard. The welcome hamper was a great starter and the contents were almost all locally sourced. We had a small issue with the heating in one of the bedrooms/bathrooms when we arrived, but this was quickly resolved by Christine, who at all times was very responsive to any request that may have had.

Everything about Jenny’s Croft is first class. The kitchen is extremely well equipped (I can’t think there was anything missing), the wood burner was laid ready for our arrival and the welcome hamper was full of fabulous locally-sourced food and drinks. Communication with Christine was always helpful and very responsive. We will be back!

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Oak Retreat in Little Blencowe over New Year. The location was perfect for lovely hikes, and the cottage itself was cozy and welcoming. Christine, the host, went above and beyond by providing a thoughtful welcome kit with essentials like milk, fresh bread, eggs, cereal, fudge, Lurpak, cooking oil, tea, and coffee—it was such a nice touch! The space is compact, so you need to be efficient with storage, but that added to the charm of the stay. We were also well-stocked with logs for the fire, which made the evenings extra cozy. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely love to come back! Highly recommend Oak Retreat for a peaceful getaway.

Lovely place to stay, beautiful scenery, easily accessible to the lakes, would highly recommend. One slight issue to flag for future visitors – Power is run on solar batteries, which is fine (particularly in sunnier months), but suggest taking torch, battery packs etc in winter in case it drops out for a little bit (hosts will happily replace the batteries when it does 🙂

Todd Hill Farm was amazing, what a beautiful location and fantastic property. We had a party of 10 and could not have wished for any more. On arriving the house was spotless and fully equipped. There was a wonderful hamper on arrival for us with so many treats and necessities. There were some great places to eat nearby and some lovely walks as outlined in the wonderful guide folder in the house. Christine was a fantastic host who responded very quickly to any questions and was very proactive in her messages. I would not hesitate in staying here again or any of her other properties

We had a fantastic time at Stag Cottage over New Year and fell in love with the village. Sadly the pub was closed, but we ate at The Old Bakery the day we left which was very good.
We also did some of the walks from the cottage which were perfect.
The accommodation worked well for us, with the kitchen well equipped along with luxury bathrooms.
The comprehensive hamper with quality items was well received, as well as the lovely toiletries.
Heating and hot water was plentiful, and the fire was really cosy on the cold nights.
It was great knowing there were EV chargers on site and although Penrith is not far away, it was great to plug in, once back at the cottage.
Overall we had a great time again and would love to explore the area more.

We have just returned from our second stay at Jenny’s Croft. The property is in an idyllic, relaxing location, a short car ride to amenities and pubs and cafes.

The property itself is of the highest quality, fully equipped and has absolutely everything you could need. They have thought of everything, even down to dog treats and bowls for our dog!

The welcome hamper is a real treat and a demonstration of how the Rowley Estates team go above and beyond.

I have also been very impressed with the communication you receive pre/post your trip. The team are on hand at all times to help with any queries.

Jenny’s Croft really is a special place and ideal if you are looking for a quality, relaxing, peaceful break. We are already planning our next visit.

We have spent New Year week in many houses over the past twenty years and Melmerby Hall is certainly one of the best we have stayed in. Christine and her team were a pleasure to liaise with and provided plenty of helpful information. They have obviously put a lot of care and thought into the house and it is spacious, comfortable and very well-equipped for a large group. We had a delicious drop-off meal, cooked at short notice by Lynn Hilditch, which we all very much enjoyed. We would definitely love to return to Melmerby Hall.
