Great accommodation, great facilities, great location. Very well equipped and very spacious. Plenty of room to swallow up a big group. Friendly and helpful owners too.

We stayed here for the second time with a group of friends and everything was perfect. The hall was spotless, warm and had everything we needed including a very generous welcome pack. We had a meal delivery from the local bakery one night and ate at The Shepherds Rest on another night. All in all a wonderful place to stay.

Fabulous place to make memories. Nice village with lovely people and a great pub with superb food. Everyone in our party of 16 felt relaxed and at home and left with batteries fully recharged. Thank you once again

…..Melmerby Hall absolutely ‘ticks all the boxes’ when it comes to accomodating a large family get together. We have just had a very agreeable 4-day gathering of the Clan (16no. adults and children) and have already booked for the same time in 2023.

What’s so good about it?

1.Terrific space: 3 sitting rooms with obvious advantages when fractious moments occur, marvellous spacious Aga kitchen and pantries adjoining the two winter/summer dining areas, in turn leading to French doors accessing the outside pre dinner drinks area and the large garden and vast lawn areas, where several games of cricket/football were played. Good sized and charming ensuite bedrooms with the option of twin beds in some. The full-sized snooker table for wet afternoons.

2. Location:. Melmerby is perfectly positioned for accessing both the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales.

3. Local pub and the Village bakery for excellent last morning breakfasts.

4. Value for money: If you can find such spotlessly clean accommodation in Dorset, Devon or Cornwall, it will be at twice the cost, at least; and if you don’t know the Lakes you should ! but not in August, coz that’s when we go !…..

A great location for a large family holiday. Lots of local things to do, walks, the Lakes and the beautiful Eden Valley, plus a great large garden, ideal for children’s games and ‘exploring’.

We have recently returned from an excellent week at Melmerby Hall. We went for a family celebration and found Melmerby to be a great place to stay. The hall and grounds are amazing and we would have no hesitation in booking Melmerby again.

We spent 4 days at Melmerby Hall in July 2022 to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary with our family.
We were a party of 17 and the hall was an ideal location. It is truly palatial with so much space both indoors and in the beautiful grounds.
Although it is steeped in history it has all the advantages of modern facilities. The bedrooms are all en-suite and beautifully furnished.
Everything is provided to make the stay comfortable from the luxurious welcome hamper to the fully equipped kitchen (complete with Aga) and two barbecues.
The grounds are extensive and there are masses of room for children to play safely.
We used Lynn Hilditch to provide us with a wonderful fully catered and served dinner on one evening. The nearby village has a lovely bakery and super pub.
I cannot praise this property highly enough and fully recommend it for a short break or longer in any season.
