Just returned from an anniversary and birthday celebration weekend at Melmerby Hall, and Stag Cottage.
A wonderful location for a big get together with friends and family.
All the bedrooms are en suite with very comfortable beds and lovely products in all the bathrooms.
The welcome hampers in both properties were fantastic and well received, they even had treats in for the dogs.
It was very relaxing with room for all of us to spread out, especially in the beautiful gardens where the children, and dogs, enjoyed running around and exploring.
The hi light of our weekend was a celebration dinner on Saturday night, Lynn Hilditch catered for us.The meal was superb, nothing was too much trouble for her and Lynn and her staff looked after us all very well.I would highly recommend Lynn for any special event.
I would certainly book with Rowley estates again and recommend them to my friends

We stayed at Melmerby Hall at the end of April for a fun filled family birthday celebration. There were 16 of us aged from 63 to 1 staying in all 9 rooms plus 5 more family members in Stag Cottage. We are just local and had never stayed in one of the Rowley Estates properties though we had heard good reports and we weren’t disappointed. The property itself is superb as are the extensive grounds, the bedrooms are all very luxurious with lovely bathrooms. The rest of the house is huge with plenty of reception rooms to spread out but also plenty of space for everyone to sit in the same room or around the same dining table. As for the billiards room on the top floor that was the icing on the cake.
The kitchen is very well equipped – two dishwashers, two fridges and endless crockery, cutlery and glasses plus as much cooking equipment as you might ever need. The aga and central island make it a great sociable space and everything was so well thought out. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch too.
As soon as we left all the family were desperate to go back for another get together, it really was fantastic in every way.

Christine and the Rowley estates team do such a great job of making a journey to one of their properties not just memorable but personalised.

This is the third trip we have had booked to one of their properties and the best trip so far.

Lovely beautiful house with such a well equipped kitchen for a large group. We also took the Stag cottage which is connected so more than enough space in the Halls living areas that felt homely and spacious, we were 16 people but we could have been 40 people and still have space socially.

Look forward to staying again and have decided we will just pick another of the estates first and look at the area second.

Fantastic large house with plenty of space inside and out that easily accommodated 10 adults and 8 children. Great character and highly functional. We used Lynn Hilditch Catering for a special meal; Lynn’s food was remarkable across the board and the service was brilliant. Highly recommend this house and Lynn for catering.

22 members of our family and friends celebrated our golden wedding at Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage, staying 3 nights. The accommodation is magnificent in terms of quality of fittings, size, comfort and it’s preparation. We used outside caterers for our main celebration meal and Lynn Hilditch and her team equaled the high standard of the accommodation completely
We have no hesitation in recommending this venue to any one who feels the need to be truly spoiled

We all had a memorable stay at Melmerby Hall which is a truly splendid property with interesting grounds and a marvellous outlook.

The house itself was very well equipped and the ready availability of logs from the store was indulged during our stay. We all liked the theming of the rooms in terms of furniture, fixings and fabrics.

It also felt exceptionally well heated for a large property. The log fires were not required for additional heat but more for atmosphere!

The location itself in The Eden Valley proved very strategic for our trips to the Lake District whilst the proximity of the North Pennines and Northumbria suggest that we should have a return visit sometime soon. There is much to do and see.

Honestly, the best airbnb I’ve stayed in. Melmerby Hall is exquisite. Roaring open fires, beautiful antique furnishings and lushious gardens and surroundings. Christine was an impeccable host and every little detail had been considered. Nothing was too much trouble and even the beautiful welcome hamper had so much thought incorporated into it. We spent three glorious days at Melmerby Hall with friends, family and our pooches and we will absolutely be making it more of a regular occurrence. I cannot recommend Melmerby Hall or The Rowleys as hosts, warmly enough. Thank you so much Christine and Co!

This was my 5th visit to one of the Rowley Estates properties and have to say I find each and everyone exceptional.
18 of us stayed at Melmerby Hall for a weekend in November.
The Hall has more than enough beautiful comfortable living rooms if you want to escape from the other guests and have a read of a book.
Large dinning room and kitchen for everyone to gather in.
All the bedrooms are a good size with your own bathrooms.
If I am looking for either a small or a large gathering of family and friends my first choice is always to check out the Rowley Estates.
You definitely will not be disappointed

Just spent six nights at Melmerby Hall with extended family celebrating an eightieth birthday. The hall and surroundings are magnificent. It easily accommodated 16 of us in very comfortable and excellently maintained accommodation. Our ages ranged from 8 to 80 years and we could all find plenty to do including play snooker, enjoy dining provided by a local caterer and there was always space for whatever we wanted to do. Would highly recommend for location, quality of accommodation and support provided by owners as regards places to visit etc.
