Jenny’s Croft
An exquisite five-star retreat of Cumbrian red sandstone high in the Eden Valley, overlooking the Pennines.
- Sleeps: 4
Calm seclusion meets uncompromising luxury
Cook up a storm in your oak and granite kitchen, then serve it in style round the formal dining table. Stoke the wood burner in the heart of the croft, toasting both eating and living spaces. Uncork the wine from your welcome hamper and gather on sumptuous sofas for film nights and banter. Or retreat to the quiet nook behind the dining room to read and dream in peace. Keep mud at bay in your well-equipped utility room, or let the outside in and fling open the kitchen door onto your sandstone terrace.
Jenny’s Croft is all hearth and heart. You’ll yearn to return.
Gaze while you graze
Linger over breakfast on your sunspot patio, secluded by cottage garden planting with views across the Pennine hills. Spark the coals on your Weber barbecue to do justice to a wheel of local Cranston’s Cumberland sausage while dogs and kids burn off energy climbing the terraced lawns. Or head up the road to the pretty play park in Glassonby hamlet.
Feather beds and roomy en-suites
After adventures, recharge under a steaming rainfall shower or loll in the bath – both bedrooms are en-suite. Then sink down under feather duvets wrapped in Egyptian cotton and drift off on antique beds in the blissful silence of the Cumbrian landscape.
If you can bear to leave...
Take the Ullswater Steamer to explore the trails round Aira Force. Or simply step outside your own front door and ramble from Dale Raven along the banks of the Eden River. If you after a bit of adrenalin try the zip wires, paintballing and quad biking on the estate. Enjoy the genteel pleasures of Michelin-starred lunch at Sharrow Bay or a play at the Theatre by The Lake at Keswick. On lazy days, pick up coffees, cakes and cash along with papers and groceries in the village shop at Kirkoswald a couple of miles away. Sup local ales at The Fetherston Arms and The Crown.
