Riverain is a haven. Unwind in deep leather sofas beside a roaring log fire (pre-laid, you just have to light it) as you enjoy a glass of wine, a freshly brewed coffee or a nibble of homemade fudge from your wicker welcome hamper. Gaze out through high arched windows onto Blencowe’s castle towers and the undulating fells beyond. Linger over dinner by candlelight in carved chairs around your dining table or spot wildlife from the arrowslit windows in the rose sandstone walls. Feasts and muddy hikes alike are cleared away with ease – your kitchen and utility come equipped with dishwasher, washer, dryer and dog rugs, so you can snuggle into a nook with a book (or a loved one) and set yourselves up for round two of your adventures.

Entrance hall, oak floored reception room incorporating an open fire with a cast iron wood burning stove (complimentary logs, kindling and fire lighters provided), an open plan farmhouse kitchen with granite worktops and a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The Derwent Bedroom has a 6’ bed that can convert into 3’ singles upon request and an ensuite WC and shower room.

First Floor

The Haweswater Bedroom has a 6’ bed that can convert into 3’ singles upon request and an ensuite WC and shower room.

The Ullswater Room with a 5’ bed and an ensuite wc and bathroom with an over-bath shower.

Fill your lungs with clear Lakeland air – there are miles of running, hiking and biking routes from your doorstep. Potter around Greystoke village, a mile away, visit its legendary castle; take tea in the walled garden of the Cycle Café or sample a local brew in The Boot and Shoe. Aira Force and Ullswater Lake are minutes’ drive away for rambles, steamboat jaunts, water sports or Michelin-starred food at Sharrow Bay. Make memories to cherish, fishing for brown trout, picking sun-ripened raspberries or brushing snow from the branches of your hand-picked Christmas tree, felled to order on the Estates. How many guests does Riverain sleep, and what's the layout?

Riverain sleeps 6 across three ensuite bedrooms (the Derwent, Haweswater and Ullswater rooms), in a converted Grade II listed coach house within Blencowe Hall’s own grounds. Leather sofas, a pre-laid log fire you just have to light, and arrowslit windows looking out over the castle towers.

Is Riverain dog friendly?

Yes, dog rugs are provided as standard in the kitchen and utility area, and there’s a private enclosed garden with generous lawns for muddy hikes to be shaken off before anyone comes back inside.

Does Riverain have a wood burning stove?

Yes, a cast iron wood burning stove in the ground floor reception room, with complimentary logs, kindling and firelighters provided and topped up on request at no extra charge.
