Beautiful cottage, bigger than we expected! Welcome hamper was a lovely touch and plenty of reading material for recommended walks/things to do in the area. Would definitely recommend!

Christine is a friendly host and she was very responsive. Google maps led us astray, but she picked up the phone immediately and steered us right. Place was spotless. Sheep walk right up outside the cabin. Very nice retreat away from the city. Would recommend with the right company.

We really enjoyed our stay at Birch Retreat. It was very cosy and warm, especially with the log burner over Christmas, the wi-fi was thankfully great for the kids evening entertainment! We loved the beautiful forest, the kids loved walking the stream in their wellies and the dog loved chasing the pheasants! Ashgill force nearby is great to visit, and there are so many beautiful walks, great value for money.

Blencowe Hall is absolutely stunning inside and out. We have just had the most amazing, huge family Christmas here and everything about it was brilliant. The rooms are incredible and the views are stunning. Every one of us was completely wowed by the experience of staying in such an amazing building. The place was spotless and every detail has been considered, from wonderful toiletries, fluffy towels and plenty of toilet roll in every bathroom to everything you could possibly wish for and more in a kitchen. And the very extensive welcome pack was very exciting. There were two beautiful Christmas trees and the dining room had been beautifully prepared with crackers, candles, stunning table decorations and napkins folded into Christmas trees. Blencowe Hall is a very special place and we can only hope we may be lucky enough to return one day

A special place to spend Christmas.

We stayed in Riverain as part of a larger group in the Hall as well. The cottage has everything you could hope for in a holiday home. The bedding and particularly the down filled pillows make for an excellent night’s sleep. On site washing/ironing facilities and a very well appointed kitchen make for day to day ease.
Lovely high ceilings in the lounge along with a decorated tree made for a great relaxing or board game playing environment.
A shoe rack and perhaps some coat hooks by the door are my only suggestions but minimal considerations with every other provision accounted for.
Truly splendid weather topped off a Christmas to remember in beautiful surroundings.

We stayed at Birch Retreat for our Christmas as a family of three and we had the best Christmas ever. Birch Retreat exceeded all our expectations. It was lovely and cosy. It was always warm with central heating and a lovely log fire. Soooo many logs for the fires you will never run out. Gorgeous shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser to use. Lots of lovely towels to keep us going. Really comfortable beds. Everything you need in the kitchen. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the homemade jam was lovely. The area is lovely and quiet. There are 2 other cabins in view. Birch Retreat is on the end next to woodland and a river which was perfect for us as it gave us our own little private walk which our daughter loved each day. There is a lovely pub a quick walk down the road. We were sorry to leave, we had such a lovely peaceful time. Christine was a great attentive host. We hope to return and stay again! Thank you x

We have just left the property and grounds, we had an absolutely wonderful stay – thank for your time assisting us with entry and hospitality. The hut is so lovely and the personal touches of local produce left for us was very much appreciated, we hope to visit again one day.

Christine was super communicative prior to our stay, she set our clear arrival instructions and gave us helpful tips on the local area. The cabin was delightful, we will definitely be back and would encourage others to stay there as well! Christine left us with a delicious selection of local produce including granola, eggs and fresh damson jam – an impressive touch. Location was great for us as we had a car and could navigate to local walks. A perfect stay, I only dropped a star for cleanliness due to a few cobwebs around the fireplace but we don’t mind sharing the warmth!

The whole family loved staying here. It immediately felt like home, Christine thinks of everything you could imagine to make your stay perfect. We had the most magical Christmas. The house was so comfortable and we had lots of lovely country walks .

We stayed here over Christmas and was lovely. The house is such a great place for family to get together and spend time with each other. We walked everyday from the door step and it was so peaceful and quiet. Lovely little pub down the road with great home cooked food. Christine was a great host and we loved the welcome hamper was a really thoughtful touch. If we come to Cumbria again we will definitely stay here.
