Absolutely lovely place to stay so peaceful and quiet with just the river below flowing. Great for an evening just sitting and relaxing with a drink. Christine is really helpful with everything you need to know and what’s on and thing’s to do around the area. Great cosy shepherds hut, Would definitely go back for another stay. A*

My wife and I enjoyed a 4 night stay here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hut is tucked away, out of sight and very romantic. Despite its’ size, it’s very well equipped and had everything we needed. It was very clean and well maintained.

Would recommend it to anyone! Christine was friendly and quick to respond host. Lovely place and a perfect location with the fields and nearby river. Great location to visit different places in the Lake District. If you get a chance, try and stay here!

A very welcoming, 1st class stay at Hawthorn Retreat Shepherds Hut. Beautiful accommodation in an amazing setting, above the bank of a stream, away from the usual sounds of humanity. The sound of the water very tranquil and relaxing. Location wise central for all the lakes, a great place to stay to either visit the beautiful lakes and mountains, or to chill and hibernate away.
Christine was a fantastic host, never too far away from a message or email, very responsive, making sure we had everything we needed for our short break. 💯 🫶🏼

Had a really wonderful stay, it has everything you could need for a relaxing break- and the breakfast hamper was wonderful!

We stayed here for three nights and absolutely loved it! The instructions to find the hut were spot on and the drive to Penrith only took 10 minutes! The river is so peaceful and there is so much room in the hut we never felt there wasn’t enough space! Perfect stay thank you Christine and family xxx

The shepherds hut was cosy and warm which was well equipped and a comfy bed. A lovely hamper greeted us when we arrived with quality products. The bathroom had lovely smelling toiletries. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Hawthorn Retreat for 4 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. Christine is a great host, always responsive, provided clear instructions about check in and about things to do around the property. Place itself is a catch. Surrounded in the woods, at the bank of the river and huge estate. We would definitely stay here again.

This place was absolutely perfect! Such beautiful surroundings, even better than the pictures show. There’s a lovely little river just at the bottom of the bank where the hut is, so nice to wake up to the sounds of running water. It’s super cosy and warm, great shower, comfortable bed and nice little kitchen. We will definitely stay again.

Beautiful location, fantastic hut! Christine was also extremely helpful and efficient. She was always there to answer any questions. We had a lovely time and will definitely be telling all our friends!
