I absolutely loved my stay here. The lodging was so peaceful and remote, just perfect for a countryside getaway! The local area was stunning and there’s plenty to do. I would definitely recommend

Had a lovely few days. Perfect place to stop the world. Was lucky to catch some of the Perseid Meteor Shower while laid in the bed with the doors wide open. Pretty magical.

We enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at Oak Retreat. We loved the peaceful rural location set in a small wooded area surrounded by farmland. We saw wild rabbits and the sheep woke us up each morning with their enthusiastic grazing. We enjoyed using the BBQ and fire pit on the first night and the outdoor seating is perfectly placed for the last of the evening sun. The shepherds hut itself has everything you need for a cosy stay and the bed is very comfortable. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, especially Christine’s homemade raspberry jam. We walked 30 miles in 3 days during our stay, hiking the Ullswater Way on Day 1, the old Threlkeld railway to Keswick via Latrigg on Day 2, finishing with a local walk to Greystoke along the bridle way stopping for lunch at Greystoke Castle. Christine was helpful and responsive before and during our stay. Thank you for a memorable trip!

We had a wonderful stay at Oak Retreat. The hut is beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped with everything you could need – nothing was missing. Nestled in a peaceful location with stunning views over the Cumbrian hills, it offered the perfect escape. Each morning, we were gently woken by sheep grazing nearby, and a little family of rabbits visited us several times a day, which felt truly magical. The breakfast hamper, filled with local products, was a lovely touch – especially the homemade raspberry jam, which was fantastic. Christine kindly invited us to pick fresh raspberries from her own field. We also received many great tips from her that made our stay even better. Communication with Christine was always easy, friendly, and responsive throughout. We would absolutely return! Oak Retreat is a perfect place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature, offering charm, comfort, and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Christine’s stay was honestly incredible. Super private, our neighbours were sheep and cows. what more could you ask for!

We had a fantastic stay at the shepherd’s hut. The views were brilliant – waking up to sheep in the field right outside and the hills in the distance was a real highlight. It’s a stunning part of the country and felt like a proper break from the usual routine. The hut itself was really well thought out. Every detail seemed to have been planned to make the place practical, comfortable, and easy to settle into. The interior was finished to a high standard and had a lot of character – it was clear a lot of care had gone into it. We really enjoyed our time here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in a great setting.

We had a wonderful stay at the Oak Retreat – a lovely hut with beautiful scenery. It had everything we needed! We were fortunate to have a dry evening to enjoy the fire pit and barbecue outside, and the log burner was great for cosy evenings inside. It was a lovely touch that they used local suppliers for some products in the hut, as well as for the welcome hamper. It was the perfect base to explore Ullswater, and to come back and cosy up after a day of walking or paddleboarding. If we’re able to return to the Lake District we’d definitely hope to stay here again!

We have a fantastic stay in the oak retreat its so peaceful and the view and surrounding area is absolutely stunning. The sheep and cows right on your door step are lovely to see when sitting relaxing with a cuppa. The shepards hut has all you need for a relaxing stay, and its a short drive to the closest town but so many more places easy to get to lots to see and do. Thank you for a very memorable holiday.
