A very private and peaceful lodge, perfectly centred for our trip. Gorgeous views and sunrise in the morning, especially in the snow. Even managed to access the lodge in the snow as well! Bed was very spacious and comfy, and the lodge had all we needed, we especially liked the log burner! Christine was brilliant with any of our queries and Steve was very helpful, we’re so grateful! Thanks so much Christine, and a huge thanks to Steve as well, such a memorable trip, we’ll be back next year! 🙂

We absolutely loved staying at Oak Retreat, the location was perfect and the surroundings were incredibly peaceful and picturesque. The hut itself was cosy and clean, equipped with everything we needed and the welcome package on check-in was the cherry on top. This was the perfect start to our new year and will definitely be booking again – would recommend to anyone! Thank you Christine

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Oak Retreat in Little Blencowe over New Year. The location was perfect for lovely hikes, and the cottage itself was cozy and welcoming. Christine, the host, went above and beyond by providing a thoughtful welcome kit with essentials like milk, fresh bread, eggs, cereal, fudge, Lurpak, cooking oil, tea, and coffee—it was such a nice touch! The space is compact, so you need to be efficient with storage, but that added to the charm of the stay. We were also well-stocked with logs for the fire, which made the evenings extra cozy. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely love to come back! Highly recommend Oak Retreat for a peaceful getaway.

all I can say is … WOW! what a gem of a place! we stayed here for christmas week and had the best christmas ever after the worse year ever this was just what we needed – christine had gone above and beyond and it really did have everything we needed! it was home away from home – super peaceful and tranquil! can’t wait to come again – we for SURE will be back! the little touches really made the difference – from the coffee and tea to the little pack of cards and the christmas touches! everything screamed ‘home’ and christine sure took pride in what she does! thank you and we hope to stay with you very soon!

Christine‘s place was amazing, I couldn’t find any faults. And in driveable distance. Everything from the hand soap to the breakfast food they provided for me was amazing and came from the late district itself! Would highly recommend

Excellent place to stay. Beautiful surroundings. The cabin is lovely and Christine has done an excellent job with the space available. This is a small space so compromises have to be made, however it is very cosy. The bed is a fold down bed which takes the space where the dining table is. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Amazing little touches when we arrived including some delicious local produce. Fantastic communication from Christine all the way through the process, very responsive and gave very clear information. We had 66mph winds whilst we were there and can say that the cabin is sturdy! Very close to some good mountains if you’re into the outdoors. We scrambled up Blencathra which was a 15 minute drive away. Penrith is closeby with some nice restaurants and bars.
