Gill Beck Barn
Stunning sandstone country barn conversion with endless horizon rolling hills views.
- Sleeps: 6
A peaceful luxury retreat in the rolling foothills of the Pennines
Torn between holidaying in the Peaks or the Lakes? Gill Beck Barn offers the best of both worlds. On the crest of a country lane at our Todd Hills Farm site, this handsome stable conversion has stunning views over the Pennines to the East and the Lake District to the West.
Unwind with a glass of wine on the terrace and fire up the Weber barbeque enjoying sweeping views of hills and dales while children and dogs run safely wild. Your enclosed private two-acre garden, secured by dry-stone walls, backs onto ancient woodland with a hill top sandstone fire pit and wildflower meadow.
Gill Beck Barn’s tranquil and spacious setting will revive and refresh.
Spacious vaulted barn conversion
Head inside to unpack your hamper of local delicacies: the kitchen’s equipped with traditional Aga, a SMEG electric oven & gas hob and an antique oak table, all you need to cook up a feast. (And a dishwasher to clear it up afterwards.) If the weather turns English, stoke up the wood burner with complimentary logs from the estate and sink into a rocking chair.
Bedrooms & bathrooms
After hearty hikes or days on the water, you’ll welcome the walk-in power showers and that each bedroom in this luxury holiday cottage has its own bathroom. Choose between the ground floor Loweswater Room opening directly onto the garden, double aspect ground floor Rydal Room with views onto the interior courtyard and the rolling hills, or The Eltwater master bedroom with its vaulted ceiling, chaise longue and claw-footed bathtub. Listen out for doves and owls as you sink into the comfort of crisp white Egyptian cotton bedding.
If you can bear to leave…
Gill Beck Barn is connected to Todd Hills Hall Farmhouse but otherwise your nearest neighbours are red squirrels and swifts. With panoramic views, you’re still just five minutes by car (or an easy stroll down a quiet country lane) to the gorgeous village of Melmerby with its pretty church, village store and tea room, delicious bakery, captivating independent shops and traditional Shepherd’s Inn pub. For biking, hiking, riding, sailing and fishing, strike out into the glorious Lake District and Pennine Hills – they’re all on your doorstep. Then return to the sweet comfort of a roaring fire, luxurious ensuite bedrooms and a generous wicker hamper of local delicacies and treats.
