Find deep tranquillity in this vaulted barn conversion surrounded by Lakeland fields and fells.
When you first step into Cazenovia’s high-vaulted kitchen with French windows opening onto its private cottage gardens and the rolling fells beyond, you’ll feel your spirits soar.
Crack open your welcome hamper for an impromptu picnic on the sunny sandstone terrace or if the Lakeland mists descend, flip the dining table top and play a few frames of snooker till the evening draws in. The airy kitchen is open-plan onto a dining hall lit with chandeliers, so you can keep the conversation alive as you whisk up a feast on your four oven Aga, gas hob and electric oven. Gather the clan in the bright and spacious Gin Case Lounge for games. Relax in front of the blazing log fire, catch up or curl up with a book from the staircase library. Or simply gaze at the golden fields that unfurl for miles from the Blencowe Hall estate, spying out for wild hares and bats.
Luxurious calm inside, and wild beauty beyond, a stay in Cazenovia Hall stands out forever.
Throw open your French windows onto the sunny Southern terraces for leisurely alfresco breakfasts, scented by drifts of lavender along the mossy dry stone walls. Spark the coals for a hearty barbecue on the Weber as the sun sets across the vast open sky. Unleash dogs and kids to explore your grounds, from the ancient orchard to the little rill in the courtyard garden. Follow the winding stream by the long lawn. Play hide and seek in the garden. With Blencowe Castle on your doorstep and the Eden Valley fields and Lakeland Fells stretching as far as the eye can see, you’ll create magical memories here.
Enter from your private gravelled parking area to the spacious glass roofed entrance hall and double height kitchen and oak floored dining hall. Chefs will delight in the exceptionally well equipped kitchen which has a four oven Aga, separate gas hob and electric oven, a stainless steel American fridge freezer and a massive granite topped cooking island.
The Gin Case lounge has French doors opening into the gardens and sandstone terraces and an open sandstone built fireplace.
The separate utility room area has a washer and tumble dryer, washing facilities and coat and boot storage.
On the ground floor, the Madison Room has a 5′ king size bed and ensuite WC and shower room.
The second double bedroom on the ground floor is the Lincklaen Room which has a 6′ zip and link bed which can convert to 2 x 3′ singles upon request and en suite WC and bathroom with an over bath shower.
Accessed via the massive hand built oak staircase is the Lorenzo Room which has a 5′ antique oak bed and en suite with a separate cast iron bath and shower.
The Chittenango Room has two antique 3′ twin beds and an en suite shower room set into the eaves.
If last night’s celebrations went on a little longer than intended, blow the cobwebs away with a morning walk. Greystoke village is a mile away, (the castle’s worth a visit; the tea’s a treat in the walled garden of the Cycle Café, and the brew’s local in The Boot and Shoe). It’s a short drive to Aira Force and Ullswater Lake for rambles, steamboat jaunts, water sports or afternoon tea. And once you’ve had your fill of natural wonders, you can always kickstart the adrenalin with mountain biking, clay pigeon shooting, quadbiking or pony trekking.

Relaxing stay, in beautiful well layed out cottages & gardens with wonderful views. The host (Christine) was extremely helpful, informative and prompt to reply. The welcome hampers were fabulous. We would definitely return.

Both cottages were absolutely perfect! We were away competing all weekend with friends and it was the perfect space to wind down in the evening! We couldn’t have asked for any more and the welcome hamper is such a special treat! A very special place to also spend my 30th...
