We’ve just spent 3 nights at Elk Cottage and had a blissful stay. The cottage is kitted out with everything you could ever possibly need. The bed linen, towels and bath products are wonderfully luxurious. The woodburner is lovely and was laid ready to go on arrival. We didn’t get to use the outside spaces as it was snowing but the patio directly outside the kitchen had the sun most of the day and I imagine would be a real sun trap in the summer. The hamper on arrival is packed full of delicious locally sourced treats. We took our Labrador and the utility area gave us an option for her when she was drying off from the very snowy walks! Honestly could not recommend highly enough, we will be back..!

This is our second stay at Elk Cottage and we loved it. It is a beautiful, comfortable and very welcoming cottage. It is also spotlessly clean and was tastefully decorated for Christmas. The kitchen is very well equipped and the welcome hamper is by far the best we have come across – there was even something for the dogs. We loved the log burner and there were plenty of logs. There were lots of books to read on offer too. We slept really well as the bed was so comfortable. The location is great – there is good walking in beautiful, quiet countryside from the door. Christine at The Rowley Estates was really helpful and responsive to questions emailed and it was lovely to meet her in person when the dogs went to say hello. The cottage is a definite recommend from us.

We loved our stay at Elk Cottage. Our daughter hadn’t seen her grandparents for over a year and this was the perfect place to spend some much needed family time. The cottage is beautiful with everything you could need. The welcome hamper was excellent. We particularly liked that the produce was local and that you even thought of our dogs! We only have positive feedback about the cottage, yourselves and the location.

We’ve stayed at several of the Rowley Estate properties and Elk Cottage did not disappoint. More so because we’d had a bad AirBnB experience in Ambleside and Christine and the team accommodated us at short notice. Love this place, as rental cottages goes this is up there amongst the very best. Excellent standard of accommodation, with the team at Rowley Estates as helpful as they come. Great access to Penrith and surrounding villages and of course the Lakes.

Absolutely Fantastic Property, Kept at the highest standard. The Cottage made us feel very at home and the welcome hamper was delicious!

High standard of self catering accommodation in a quiet rural setting. Great local walks are available and the Lake District is just down the road if you would like to explore what it has to offer

Very well equipped cottage in a quiet village location, but lots to do within easy reach. We had a great week and look forward to coming back.

Elk cottage is immaculately clean, comfortable and warm. It has all the essentials and more, a fantastic location, lovely garden with great views and everything is good quality. I don’t think the photos do it justice. Christine was very communicative so the stay ran like clockwork. We will definitely stay at a Rowley Estates property again.
