We really enjoyed our weekend at Stag Cottage which we found to be very comfortable and well equipped. Hamper was appreciated and full of lovely things. We were 3 couples and the cottage was perfect for us. My husband and I have stayed at Melmerby Hall twice as part of a large group of friends so we knew of Stag Cottage and thought it would be just right for 6 of us.

Thank you for a lovely stay – I’m sure we’ll be back.

We stayed here for three nights and absolutely loved it! The instructions to find the hut were spot on and the drive to Penrith only took 10 minutes! The river is so peaceful and there is so much room in the hut we never felt there wasn’t enough space! Perfect stay thank you Christine and family xxx

Thank you so much for letting us stay in this beautiful cabin. We’ve had a marvellous time and it’s been the best little base for our anniversary getaway to the lakes.

Thank you so much, I booked this stay for a surprise for Mother’s Day, my mum really enjoyed our stay, the host even made a little breakfast basket for us, with some other bits in the fridge, everything was clean and actually bigger than we expected, the hut is in a great location, very quiet and pretty, and very close to different pubs and local towns.

Truly an amazing stay, we couldn’t have been prepared for the absolutely stunning setting for this cottage! The cottage itself was immaculate, the gardens were private and pristine, and the décor was so in keeping and highlighted the heritage significance of the building! The entire cottage was so cosy and comfortable, the views were perfect, the furnishing and appliances available were amazing, and the gift basket was gorgeous and hugely appreciated. The hosts have left a good amount of information about the local area and places to go see and local walks which were very helpful when planning our day. Perfect for dog owners as they have set aside some space for a utility room with a hose just outside the door, and dog towels provided. I wouldn’t have changed a thing, other than increasing the amount of time we had booked to stay!

Secluded, beautiful scenery. Wanted for nothing (outside seating, logs for the fire, local sourced products like bread, milk, eggs, butter and so much more).

I absolutely loved my stay at the Oak Retreat. The space is clean, quiet, comfortable, and you feel like you’re on your own, yet know there are people nearby if you need anything. The wood burning stove was lovely, and plenty of wood was supplied. The kitchen was well stocked, plus delicious breakfast foods were supplied (including coffee!!! 😋). The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower worked great, WiFi was great…. View was beautiful… No complaints.
