This is a 5 star cottage that gets the important things right, really comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Decent sized rooms and the best welcome hamper we have had. Situated in lovely countryside and accessible to the Lakes.

We recently had a wonderful 8 day stay at Jenny’s Croft in May 2026. The cottage is so lovely and nestled in the small village of Glassonby. There are many fine walks to take out your front door and they take you through the beautiful countryside of the Eden Valley. Christine provides a folder full of maps and descriptions. The cottage is so beautifully appointed. Everything is of the finest quality. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are lovely with great linens. The kitchen is stocked and has everything you could possibly need. Christine provides a welcome hamper which is full of products from the local area. The gingerbread is the best! We also enjoyed touring the Lake District. The Eden Valley isn’t too far away and it’s nice to be out of the busyness of the southern lakes area. We enjoyed walking around Ullswater and Aira Force. We also drove up to walk the path alongside Hadrian’s Wall and we spent one day walking the Pennine Way. There are many great pubs nearby and it’s fun to try them all. We really look forward to returning for there is still so much to see. I highly recommend Jenny’s Croft!

Before we even arrived we were emailed plenty of helpful advice about our stay and events in the surrounding area. Upon arrival the hut was cleaned to a high standard. There was a lovely welcome hamper – the plum jam especially delightful. The location was stunning and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location, whilst also being able to get to attractions such as Whinlatter Forest very easily. We will definitely be returning – hopefully sooner rather than later.

Very nice cabin with good facilities, all very clean and in good condition! Handy foldaway bed, allowing you to make the best use of the space. Small disadvantage: this does make the sofas a bit stiff. Communication with the host is good, but you receive a number of emails in advance with a lot of information, which could be a bit more compact and bundled.

If you’re staying in the Lake District, don’t hesitate to book this place.

The property is absolutely beautiful, with stunning gardens and plenty of privacy. Christine was a fantastic host, very informative, proactive, and communicative throughout our stay. When there was a local power outage, she let us know well in advance and kept us updated, which was greatly appreciated.

The welcome gift basket was a wonderful touch and gave us the opportunity to cook and enjoy some local food during our stay.

Everything exceeded our expectations. If we’re ever back in the area, this will be our first choice without question.

Great stay at a unique property. The shepherds hut made excellent use of space and was finished to a high quality. The location is great, secluded enough but then also a 15 minute walk from the village and pub.

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful shepherd’s hut. Set beside the most peaceful river and surrounded by stunning trees and open fields, it was the perfect place to switch off and unwind. The tranquility was incredible – not a sound to be heard, just nature all around us.
The accommodation had everything we needed and more, making our stay comfortable and relaxing from start to finish. It was exactly what we needed to recharge and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for peace, relaxation, and a beautiful countryside setting. We can’t wait to come back again!

Beautiful and well equipped shepherds hut that had everything we needed for a long weekend. The hut was exceptionally clean, the bed comfortable and had great touches such as a welcome hamper and well stocked wood store.

Lovely views and in a great location for exploring the Eastern Lake District and North Pennines. We also hired a sauna from Tarn Sauna that was hooked up to the hut that made the stay even more relaxing. Fantastic service from Christine and the team!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Christine’s place. It really felt like a little hidden gem. The setting was so private, peaceful and relaxing, making it the perfect escape from the city. We loved how tranquil it was, while still having plenty to do and explore in the local area.

We would definitely recommend staying here and would happily come back in the future. Christine was a fantastic host too. She was incredibly helpful, responsive and always happy to answer any questions. Thank you for such a lovely stay. ✨
