We had a lovely stay at the hut. Everything was clearly explained and the place was very clean. The WiFi worked well and seemed a good speed and everything we needed was there.
Firewood was provided along with a welcome food basket.
We had a car and got around the Lakes fairly easily. Ullswater Lake is about a ten min drive away and I think that was probably one of the most beautiful of the lakes.

Had a really lovely stay here. The hut is a very well designed. Really nice waking up to animals around us. Was clean, private and the host was great.

Lovely little cabin great for somewhere to sleep and chill at night.

Definitely would recommend and would stay again

I and around 20 colleagues had the most wonderful weekend stay at Blencowe Hall at the beginning of June. The accommodation is second to none and every little detail has been thought of to ensure a stay in this most amazing Hall is perfect.

The bedrooms, social spaces and kitchen facilities were first class with the latter allowing cooking for 20+ people to be seamless! A special dinner in the stunning dining room on our final evening was the icing on the cake!

We were in the Lake District to do the Macmillan Mighty Hike around Ullswater and to have this level of luxury to come back to afterwards was just fabulous!

Me and my partner had a lovely few nights at the oak retreat. It is a lovely place to just switch off and watch sheep ! It is close all popular Lake District destinations and hikes. We will definitely be visiting again.

What a stunning venue and an even better organisation team behind it. It’s hard to please a group of 24 friends but this place was TREMENDOUS!! Exactly or in fact BETTER than described on website. Spotless clean, so comfortable and fab social spaces and gardens. This is the BEST kept secret… I almost don’t want to share the review so it doesn’t get overbooked before we can rebook for next year!!! Thank you so much to Christine and the Rowley Estates for such a memorable stress free holiday in the fabulous dog friendly Blencowe Hall. We will see u again in Dec 26…. And again next spring!! For anyone looking for a stunning location to share precious time with family and friends… don’t hesitate just book Blencowe (and Lynn Hilditch catering!)

Larch Retreat – private woodland shepherds hut

Wow, what can I say. We stayed at Elk cottage and it did not disappoint, it has everything and I mean EVERYTHING you need, we often stay at self catering accomodation and find something vital missing. Not here! Beds are super comfy, definitely have a hotel feel. But a home from home vibe.

The communication with Christine was great from the start, instructions clear and super useful.

We really appreciated the welcome hamper of local products, it really shows you are being looked after and we were able to take our dog without extra £ (very rare these days) he had his own box too with dog bowls and towels and treats, again small touches we have not experienced elsewhere, and mean a lot!

We would book any accommodation at the Rowley Estates again without hesitation, I have every faith each will be as great as our stay at Elk cottage.

Had a wonderful stay, the shepherds hut was so cosy, had everything you needed, very clean and comfortable. The views were the best ever and it was so private. Loved the welcome gifts too. Amazing, calm and peaceful stay. Thank you x

The best house we have stayed in. Great for my 60th birthday. Three children 4, 3 and 18 months. So well equipped and thank you for the hamper.
