We had an incredible 4-day stay in this superb shepherd’s hut in the Lake District. It was the perfect escape from London quiet, secluded, peaceful, with only fields, hills and sheep around. You sleep like a baby. The hut is spotless, well insulated, modern, smartly designed, yet still feels authentic and cosy. The bed is very comfortable and large (king size) and the kitchen has everything you need, even better than at mine. The bathroom is surprisingly luxurious with a great shower (not a crappy mouldy plastic one) and all toiletries you will need. The central heating system is super modern, and we were always warm after our hikes. Christine is a great host: responsive, warm, and so professional. She had the log burner ready for us to light on arrival, a 5 star touch after a cold wet day and a 6-hour drive. Christine also offered early check-in and late checkout. A cosy shepherds hut was very tranquil and peaceful. The shepherds hut had everything you needed as well being super private and wholesome. The shepherds is set in a really nice location in a very quiet setting. It’s close enough to Keswick & Penrith with nice pubs near by. The river in the background was an added bonus to listen to!

Such a cosy homely Shepard’s hut. It is located in a private nook overlooking the river which was so peaceful. Really great location for hiking, being only a 15min drive from Blencathra. Christine was a fantastic host, being super accommodating and getting in touch in advance of our stay with all necessary instructions and also a list of local things to do. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

Absolutely perfect weekend away to celebrate my other half’s birthday and the house exceeded our expectations for the occasion. Incredible house, facilities and lovely touches from the host who has been so helpful throughout. Already planning our next trip to come back! Thank you Christine.

We, two couples and two miniature daxies, had a fabulously relaxing long weekend in this stunning cottage – equipped with everything needed to chill, eat, drink and make merry. The beds are so comfortable with exquisite bed linen; there are proper sized fluffy towels and loads of hot water. Nothing was too much trouble for Christine and her brilliant team ensuring we just had a wonderful time – I cannot recommend highly enough

Our high expectations prior to going were exceeded on arrival. What a wonderful place. Beautiful inside and out and the owners have clearly gone to a lot of thought and time making sure everything was there for the ease and comfort of guests. Would absolutely recommend for a family or group gathering. Huge thanks to everyone concerned.

What an amazing place this is. Staying in a castle is so magical. All the rooms are different but equally luxurious. It’s an ideal location for a large group – we take our yoga groups here and the dedicated yoga room is great. The owners could not be any more helpful and kind too. Thank you Christine and the team.
