We had a great time at Larch Retreat. Easy to locate using the postcode provided. Great location, peaceful and private. Within fairly close proximity to Penrith for amenities. There are great locations nearby for a day out. Larch Retreat was clean and organised. We had everything that we needed during our stay.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Larch Retreat. A beautifully decorated, comfortable and spacious Shepard’s hut overlooking fields and mountains…we were lucky enough to be able to see snow on peaks! Generous hamper of delicious local goodies was a very welcome sight when we arrived. There was an abundance of fire wood and we used both the log burner and fire pit. A BBQ is also provided. Quick Wi-Fi, well equipped kitchen, hot shower and lots of nice touches like board games and maps. We stayed for 4 nights and would have happily stayed longer. Perfect location to get away from the hustle and bustle and well situated to explore the lakes. Would highly recommended.

Perfect place for some peace and quiet amongst beautiful surroundings. Christine’s attention to detail and lovely welcome package made me feel right at home. Was sorry to leave and will hopefully be back again in the future.

This place was gorgeous- had everything we needed, a well equipped kitchen and very comfy bed. Peaceful surroundings surrounded by pine trees overlooking the fields and hills. We truly loved our stay and would recommend to anyone. Christine was very attentive and friendly! Very reasonably priced.

The larch retreat was everything we could wish for. It was tranquil, cosy and well equipped. Christine was very helpful over email which made organising the stay very easy. The location is perfect for long walks and then you can return to the warmth of the log burner. Would definitely return again!

Christine’s place at the Larch retreat was amazing. Had all the amenities you needed. Very cozy space. Christine was a great host and communicated very well. We had a small issue of figuring out the boiler when we first got there and Christine really kindly came over to help us fix it immediately. There is a log burner both inside and outside that is great. Overall would definitely recommend as it’s the perfect little place to stay.

I woke up in this beautiful little retreat on my birthday. It is really special and such an antedote to the noise and demands of modern life. From the woodburner keeping the place super cosy, to the brilliantly simple and comfortable table/bed and the personal touches like freshly baked bread, locally produced coffee and homemade jam. The little wood the hut is in is very nice and we were able to drive into it and park our van right next to the Larch retreat. Cows and sheep as neighbours, wide open spaces and very well placed to visit any part of the Lake district. As for romantic…don’t get me started!

Larch Retreat is nestled in the most peaceful little woodland and has great views across the northern Lake District. We loved waking up to views of a snowy Blencathra from the warmth of the shepherds hut. Christine was a great host and we found the hut very easily. It was also brilliant having milk, butter, bread and tea provided as we arrived quite late after work and hadn’t had time to pick up those supplies for breakfast. We also made the most of the fire pit and wood provided and stayed out to watch the Taurid meteor shower. We would definitely recommend a stay in Larch Retreat.

Having stayed in the first generation of the Rowley’s shepherds huts we were curious to see how these new ones compared, and we were happy to find that they met expectations (and depending on personal preference, may be better for some). Great to see the same attention to detail, glamping luxury and comfort with great facilities, setting and privacy. The new fold up beds did make them feel roomier, the mini wood burning stove a great atmospheric addition (and will now make us consider these as a winter option too) and being able to park right there was a plus. The only thing we missed from the originals was the sound of the beck right outside, but the views of livestock and distant fells was great. Would be happy to stay in any of them again!
