A stunning luxury hideaway set in private woodland with beautiful river front access.

After exploring the nearby Lake District, come back to the edge of the Petteril River valley to this secluded shepherd’s hut and relax in privacy with just the birds and other wildlife for company.

Rates range from £55 per person per night based on full occupancy for a 3 night mid-week stay in the 2025 early spring season or £329 total for a midweek short break.

Overview

This get away from it all star gazing retreat has a five-foot king-size bed, a hand-painted kitchen with a gas hob and LPG oven, a refrigerator and wifi.

The solar powered hut is insulated with locally sourced sheep’s wool and has heating and a warming towel rail. The ensuite shower room is equipped with a chrome shower with hot running water and a plumbed WC and basin.

In the summer, keep the doors open and enjoy dining al fresco in the private wildflower terrace overlooking the river where you can soak up the sun as well as the beautiful views over the valley and private woodland of The Rowley Estate at Blencowe.

We had a wonderful stay, the location was idyllic. It was so peaceful and secluded, the bed was comfortable and the hut had everything you could need. It was easy to find, Christine sent very clear instructions and some recommendations of things to see and do in the local area....

From start to finish the booking was really easy. Lots of communication from Christine and her team. Any questions quickly answered! They still do a lovely wee welcome hamper pack with their own raspberry jam, local bread. Apple juice, muesli, tea...

Christine is a fabulous host. Very responsive and she provided exceedingly clear instructions. The hut was perfectly located, in a very quiet area, and access to a ‘private’ stream. It was perfect for a girls hiking getaway, close to Ullswater and Derwentwater. Couldn’t have asked for a better option for...
