A stunning luxury hideaway set in private woodland with beautiful river front access.

After exploring the nearby Lake District, come back to the edge of the Petteril River valley to this secluded shepherd’s hut and relax in privacy with just the birds and other wildlife for company.

Rates range from £56 per person per night based on full occupancy for a 3 night mid-week stay in the 2026 early spring season or £339 total for a midweek short break.

Overview

This get away from it all star gazing retreat has a five-foot king-size bed, a hand-painted kitchen with a gas hob and LPG oven, a refrigerator and wifi. It’s cosy cast iron log burner is just the right size for crisp evenings and complimentary logs and kindling are provided

The solar powered hut is insulated with locally sourced sheep’s wool and has heating and a warming towel rail. The ensuite shower room is equipped with a chrome shower with hot running water and a plumbed WC and basin.

In the summer, keep the doors open and enjoy dining al fresco in the private wildflower terrace overlooking the river where you can soak up the sun as well as the beautiful views over the valley and private woodland of The Rowley Estate at Blencowe.

we had a delightful stay and highly recommend! Perfect for a sunny weekend. The hut is charming and the surrounds are beautiful, very private so perfect for couples. BBQ and fire pit are really easy to use, so fantastic additions. Hosts very generously left us a supply of breakfast items...

Was a great little hut to stay in for a couple days, next to everything you need for the stay is there for you already, gets hot in there at times but opening a window and letting air in sorts out the problem right away

We enjoyed our stay at elm retreat lovely surroundings very peaceful all we could hear were the birds whistling in the trees. The shepherds hut was clean and cosy and the food hamper was very nice. A shame no ice compartment in the fridge as the weather was extremely hot...
