Absolutely gorgeous place to stay – we had a wonderful time thanks to Christine at this location. Beautifully peaceful, with everything you could need at the home, and with stunning views all around the house. You are also close to Ullswater and a river for swimming with plenty of hiking possible too.

We absolutely loved our stay in Maple retreat. A beautiful and peaceful spot surrounded by nature and woodland. A really rare find to be so emerged in nature with complete privacy and a breath taking view from your door. Christine is also a five star host leaving a luxurious welcome hamper and being responsive to all communications. We have already booked our next visit and will be making it a regular holiday destination of ours.

We had an unforgettable stay in a shepherd’s hut tucked away in a stunning stretch of woodland, and it genuinely felt like stepping into another world. Surrounded by towering trees and dappled light, the setting is peaceful in a way that’s hard to describe until you’ve experienced it yourself. A gentle stream winds its way through the land, adding a constant, soothing soundtrack that makes it almost impossible not to relax.
The hut itself is beautifully designed—cosy, warm, and thoughtfully put together. Every detail feels intentional, from the rustic wood finishes to the soft lighting that creates a calm atmosphere in the evenings. Despite its simplicity, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and it strikes the perfect balance between off-grid charm and modern comfort.
Waking up here is something special. You can hear birdsong through the trees, watch the mist lift over the woodland, and step outside with a coffee while the stream burbles nearby. It’s the kind of place that encourages you to slow down without even trying.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a quiet reset, or just a break from routine, this shepherd’s hut delivers something truly memorable. It’s peaceful, private, and beautifully immersed in nature—an ideal retreat for anyone needing to disconnect and recharge.

We had a lovely long weekend stay at Elm retreat. The hut is located in an extremely peaceful setting, surrounded by greenery. Birds and the small river at the bottom of the hill are all you can hear. The hut was kitted out with some amazing local produce generously supplied by Christine. We were ideally located to explore the areas around Ullswater and Derwent Water with Penrith really close for larger shops. We left feeling really refreshed and would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway or a hub to explore the northern Lakes. Thank you, Christine!

Had a great few days at Larch Retreat, everything was as expected and the goodies on arrival were very much appreciated. Christine was very responsive to any questions we had and recommended some lovely places to eat. Will definitely return if back in the area, and would 100% recommend this beautiful and peaceful shepherds hut.

Beautiful cabin! A little gem in the forest. It was quiet and private, with outdoor seating and barbecue facilities available. The interior was cozy and clean, with great vibes and lots to do. The host also provided some bread, milk, jam, coffee, tea, etc. Super kind and hospitable. We had a wonderful stay 🙂

The place was perfect for a few nights stay in a peaceful location. To top it off the food and drink gifted were greatly appreciated. The multiple seating areas and the fire pit were a nice touch to sit and relax (especially with the sound of the river). We got lucky with the weather so sitting outside wasn’t a problem for us however seating inside is slightly limited, but the space used in the cabin is well thought.

What a spectacular place! Couldn’t have hoped for a better location to bring a big group of friends. We really enjoyed our stay, our dinners on the terrace, cooking in a well stocked kitchen and the amazing quiet surroundings of the Fells. A really wonderful place to stay with a large group
