We had a fantastic stay at the shepherd’s hut. The views were brilliant – waking up to sheep in the field right outside and the hills in the distance was a real highlight. It’s a stunning part of the country and felt like a proper break from the usual routine. The hut itself was really well thought out. Every detail seemed to have been planned to make the place practical, comfortable, and easy to settle into. The interior was finished to a high standard and had a lot of character – it was clear a lot of care had gone into it. We really enjoyed our time here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in a great setting.

Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed both inside and out. The information provided was concise but thorough. The location is fabulous, nestled on the edge of a private wood with views across a small valley. Very private and quiet.

We had a wonderful stay at Stag Cottage. Superbly set up and very comfortable. It was a great location for us to explore the whole of the Lake District and surrounding area. Melmerby is a lovely village and we had a lovely walk on one of the super hot days down and along the Beck. 100% would return again.

Genuinely had the best weekend away celebrating all our 40th birthdays. 16 of us had a blast. Didn’t really need to leave the house for anything. Christine put us in touch with Cumbria hot tub hire which was a nice little luxury to add to an almost perfect weekend.

We had a lovely stay at the Shepards hut. Christine was great prior to the visit giving lots of clear information regarding the stay and insights into the local area. On arrival there were lots of local food/drinks left for us to try which was a lovely touch. It was a great place to get away and switch off with lovely surroundings. Would definitely recommend!

We had a lovely time at Elm Retreat!
From start to finish the booking was really easy. Lots of communication from Christine and her team. Any questions quickly answered! They still do a lovely wee welcome hamper pack with their own raspberry jam, local bread. Apple juice, muesli, tea , coffee, butter and milk. Very small hiccup on the first night when it wasn’t there for the morning so we assumed it would appear the next day, but when it didn’t, as soon as we messaged to ask, they sorted it right away, so don’t hesitate to contact, they absolutely couldn’t be nicer. The bed was super comfy and there is a nice clean bathroom with shower. Lots of seating options just outside the hut , or down at the fire or river. A very nice relaxing place to chill. Highly recommend you treat yourself to a visit! Lots of places nearby to visit too!

Absolutely loved our stay at The Hawthorne Retreat. Beautiful location overlooking the river, lots of private outdoor seating and decking areas. Great amenities such as the BBQ & log burner! This place exceeded our expectations and it was such a great location to stay to explore the Lake District. The welcome hamper was a lovely addition to the Sheppards hut providing fantastic local produce and the lovely Rowley’s Estate home made raspberry jam. Safe to say that we will be returning in the future. This is a perfect stay for 2 people! Couldn’t recommend anymore. Christine was very helpful and responsive with any questions we had and was always happy to help if needed.

Lovely shepherds huts, really relaxing holiday, very peaceful and quiet.

We had a wonderful stay at the Oak Retreat – a lovely hut with beautiful scenery. It had everything we needed! We were fortunate to have a dry evening to enjoy the fire pit and barbecue outside, and the log burner was great for cosy evenings inside. It was a lovely touch that they used local suppliers for some products in the hut, as well as for the welcome hamper. It was the perfect base to explore Ullswater, and to come back and cosy up after a day of walking or paddleboarding. If we’re able to return to the Lake District we’d definitely hope to stay here again!

Thank you Christine for a lovely short stay at Jenny’s Croft. It was a perfect stop off for us. A generous welcome hamper, the house was very clean and comfortable and the gardens well kept.
